Dumfries' late strike secures draw for Inter at Monza

Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by Monza in Serie A on Saturday, with Denzel Dumfries scoring a late equaliser for the visitors.

Gianluca Caprari had given Monza the lead in the first half, but Dumfries' goal in the 93rd minute rescued a point for Inter.

The result leaves Inter in second place in Serie A, two points behind leaders Napoli. Monza are 14th.

Inter had the better of the chances in the first half, with Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu both going close. However, it was Monza who took the lead in the 32nd minute when Caprari fired home from close range.

Inter continued to press for an equaliser in the second half, but they were unable to find a way through until Dumfries' late strike.

The Dutchman's goal was his second of the season, and it was a vital one for Inter. The Nerazzurri are now unbeaten in their last four Serie A matches, and they will be looking to continue their good form when they face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Monza will be disappointed not to have held on for the win, but they will be pleased with their performance against one of the top teams in Serie A. The Biancorossi have now lost just one of their last five matches, and they will be confident of staying up this season.
