Amazon Prime Video has announced the production of 'The Meg 2: The Trench', which will see Statham reprise his role as deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor.

Details of the plot remain under wraps, but sources close to the production have revealed that the sequel will venture deeper into the Mariana Trench, where Taylor will encounter an even more formidable threat than the massive Megalodon shark he faced in the first film.

Directed by Ben Wheatley, known for his acclaimed work on 'Kill List' and 'Free Fire', 'The Meg 2: The Trench' promises to deliver an adrenaline-pumping cinematic experience. The film is slated for release in 2023, and according to Amazon Studios, it will be an exclusive to their streaming platform.
